Opel has released a very cheap electric car that can be driven from the age of 15

Opel has unveiled the Opel Rocks-e subcompact electric car, which will go on sale in Europe this fall. It is noteworthy that it is possible to drive a car without breaking the law from the age of 15.

The new Opel Rocks-e is only 2.41 meters long and 1.39 meters wide excluding mirrors. The electric car weighs 471 kg, so it belongs to the category of light vehicles that open the way to mobility for young men and women with AM rights.

The certificate of this category allows you to drive vehicles with a rated power of no more than 6 kW, with no more than two seats and a maximum speed of no more than 45 km / h.

With such dimensions, they say in Opel, people up to 1.9 meters tall will feel comfortable. There is no luggage compartment, but there is space under the feet of the passenger – the volume is 63 liters.

In front of the passenger’s eyes there is a small screen, the size of a top-end smartphone, on which information about the power reserve, speed and driving mode is displayed. On the center console there is a holder for a gadget. An unusual solution for a car that is positioned as an affordable one is a panoramic roof.

The maximum speed of Opel Rocks-e, as it is not difficult to guess, does not exceed 45 km / h. The power reserve in this mode is 75 km.

The battery capacity is 5.5 kWh. You can replenish the energy supply from a household outlet in 3.5 hours. Included is a dedicated adapter for public charging stations.

Orders for the new product in Germany will begin to be accepted in the fall, in the markets of other countries Opel Rocks-e will appear in 2022. Prices have not yet been announced, but the company noted that an electric car in Germany “will cost significantly less than compact cars, and the monthly payment under the leasing program will be comparable to the cost of a public transport pass.”
