Nissan is preparing an inexpensive crossover for China under the Venucia brand . Nissan’s China chief, Jun Takahashi, says the Nissan SUV will come in six different trims – three with front-wheel-drive, two with four-wheel-drive, and one with all-wheel-drive.
The move is sure to stir up a bit of competition with rivals from BMW to GAC Motor. Takahashi says Nissan will launch the Nissan SUV at the start of 2019, before the end of 2020. The premium automaker is also getting ready to sell an electric sedan called the Nissan EV Plus under the Venucia brand.
Nissan is hoping the new SUV will help it expand in China. In the first nine months of the year, Nissan’s China sales fell 11.2% to 259,279 vehicles, making it the largest market for Nissan.
