BMW X8

Billionaire Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz hopes that his private car company will win with the BMW X8, the company’s second SUV. With a carbon fibre tub, carbon fibre body panels, and a variety of luxury features, the German automaker’s new SUV aims to be both.

There are numerous versions available – depending on your definition – including a five-seat Grand Sport, as well as seven-seat Grand Sport and M Sport X trims. The SUV is powered by a four-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering a maximum of 450hp and 516lb ft of torque. That’s enough for a 0-62mph sprint time of 4.8 seconds.

The Grand Sport is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 power unit with a potent 590hp and 740lb ft of torque. It’s also rear-wheel drive, has eight-speed automatic gearbox and a 9-speed Steptronic system. The range-topping Grand Sport X and M Sport X trims also feature the aforementioned system. In addition, it’s lighter with its carbon fibre construction.
